Discovery moved into the AI layer. People no longer scan ten blue links and decide for themselves, they ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Grok, and they act on the single answer they're handed.

In that layer, most brands are simply invisible. Legacy SEO and paid ads were built to win a page of results that buyers have stopped reading. They can't secure a brand's place inside an answer that a model generates on the fly.

Being chosen by an AI engine is a different problem, and it needed a discipline that didn't exist yet. So I created it, and named the field.

The first discipline for engineering visibility, trust, and authority in the AI era, defined, named, and codified from the ground up. Others are learning the field now. I wrote it.
